Happy Thanksgiving from President Obama
Tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day, Americans across the country will sit down together, count our blessings, and give thanks for our families and our loved ones.
American families reflect the diversity of this great nation. No two are exactly alike, but there is a common thread they each share.
Our families are bound together through times of joy and times of grief. They shape us, support us, instill the values that guide us as individuals, and make possible all that we achieve.
So tomorrow, I'll be giving thanks for my family -- for all the wisdom, support, and love they have brought into my life.
But tomorrow is also a day to remember those who cannot sit down to break bread with those they love.
The soldier overseas holding down a lonely post and missing his kids. The sailor who left her home to serve a higher calling. The folks who must spend tomorrow apart from their families to work a second job, so they can keep food on the table or send a child to school.
We are grateful beyond words for the service and hard work of so many Americans who make our country great through their sacrifice. And this year, we know that far too many face a daily struggle that puts the comfort and security we all deserve painfully out of reach.
So when we gather tomorrow, let us also use the occasion to renew our commitment to building a more peaceful and prosperous future that every American family can enjoy.
It seems like a lifetime ago that a crowd met on a frigid February morning in Springfield, Illinois to set out on an improbable course to change our nation.
In the years since, Michelle and I have been blessed with the support and friendship of the millions of Americans who have come together to form this ongoing movement for change.
You have been there through victories and setbacks. You have given of yourselves beyond measure. You have enabled all that we have accomplished -- and you have had the courage to dream yet bigger dreams for what we can still achieve.
So in this season of thanks giving, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to you, and my anticipation of the brighter future we are creating together.
With warmest wishes for a happy holiday season from my family to yours,

Pat Buchanan OVERDOSED...thank you Rachel Maddow for correcting him...
Please watch the whole segment. This was aired today July 20, 2009. We thought this was important to post because we hardly ever witness on television white people openly talking about race and arguing with each other about it without a minority being present in the middle of the conversation. Mind you, this was on primetime cable television on MSNBC! Thank you Rachel Maddow. This was a bold move, and a good one. Pat Buchanan really ODed. However he represents a group of white people that have no clue about what the struggle means from the perspective of a person who's mere exsistence starts off tied to the back of the 8 ball! lol They dont know any better but thats still no excuse...SMH.

President Bill Clinton A Sigma???
As if Bill Clinton hasn't already been overly embraced by the Black community, just last week Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. voted to induct former President Bill Clinton as an honorary member. Phi Beta Sigma President Paul Griffin Jr. said Friday that "Clinton is the first U.S. president to be inducted into a historically black fraternity". Now whether or not this was a publicity stunt or a genuine outreach...we'll leave that for you to decided, but "irregardless" Bill will now join Stevie Wonder, Al Roker, the Rev. Al Sharpton and jazz musician Ramsey Lewis as an honorary member of Phi Beta Sigma.

Mississippi mayor brings 'atomic bomb of change'
This week, the 53-year-old James Young was elected the mayor of Philadelphia, Mississippi, a town of about 8,000 in the east-central part of the state. Despite a 55 percent white majority, Young defeated Rayburn Waddell, a white, three-term incumbent, by the slim margin of 46 votes.
Philadelphia was the site of one of the most notorious killings of the civil rights era. On June 21, 1964, three civil rights workers -- James Chaney, a 21-year-old black man from Mississippi; Andrew Goodman, 20, and Michael Schwerner, 24, both activists from New York -- were shot to death at the edge of town. The killings inspired the 1988 movie "Mississippi Burning."
He takes special pride that his victory comes the same year the nation swore in its first African-American president in Barack Obama. "It inspired people," Young said. "There are times and seasons, I think, for everything. The season arrived and the people let me know it was my time. It's an awesome feeling to have that kind of respect that people support you in this way," Young said near the end of our interview. "I'll never let the people down which called for that." The Smart Pill
The name of smart pill now refers to any pill that can deliver or control its delivery of medicine without the patient having to take action beyond the initial swallow. Jerome Schentag, professor of pharmaceutic science at the University of Buffalo, invented the computer-controlled "smart pill," which can be electronically tracked and instructed to deliver a drug to a predetermined location in the gastrointestinal tract. David D'Andrea was the co-inventor.
UB reporter Ellen Goldbaum describes the smart pill as a combination of microminiature electronics, mechanical and software engineering, and pharmaceutical sciences. "This capsule represents a significant advance in medical technology," said D'Andrea to UB reporters, "With the Smart Pill, we have been able to miniaturize a complex electronic system and put it into a capsule about one inch long. You're not just taking a pill, you're swallowing the instrument
